Art description: A quiet record of shared readership, these cards recorded the circulation of a book through stamped due dates. Each mark linked successive readers, transforming a public object into a layered record of community engagement. Tucked into paper pockets at the back of the book, the cards offered a glimpse into the unseen chain of hands and minds that interacted with the same text. They embedded time directly into the object, creating a rhythm of borrowing and return. In this way, the library book became not just a container of knowledge, but a participant in an ongoing, collective narrative.
