Art description: A handwritten contract of trust, combining individual penmanship with the formal security of intricate guilloché background patterns, the personal check operated within a slower economic rhythm, where phrases like “the check is in the mail” described a legitimate temporal state. Each document carried traces of the writer like handwriting, pressure, and ink choice, bridging personal identity and financial exchange. It required faith in both sender and system, existing as a negotiable promise rather than an instant transaction. In this way, the check transformed money into correspondence, a delayed and distinctly human process.
Print runs for this exhibit are limited to 5 each, hand-signed, numbered, and stamp-authenticated by the artist. Works are printed on 13”x19” or 19”x13” 100% cotton rag with deckled and torn edges, using a 6-color, high resolution inkjet process. Print is mailed in a protective mailing tube, and comes with an identification tag as presented during the exhibit. Shipping and sales tax included in print price.
