Art description: A concise vehicle for urgent communication, the telegram compressed language into essential phrases transmitted across electrical networks. Delivered as printed slips or forms, it carried messages often associated with significance like arrival, loss, or instruction. The cost structure encouraged brevity, shaping a distinct, declarative style of writing. Its arrival introduced immediacy into a slower communicative landscape, collapsing distance while preserving material form. The telegram functioned as both message and event, where content and delivery were inseparable. It marks a transitional moment when communication became rapid yet remained physically received.
Print runs for this exhibit are limited to 5 each, hand-signed, numbered, and stamp-authenticated by the artist. Works are printed on 13”x19” or 19”x13” 100% cotton rag with deckled and torn edges, using a 6-color, high resolution inkjet process. Print is mailed in a protective mailing tube, and comes with an identification tag as presented during the exhibit. Shipping and sales tax included in print price.
